ABOUT THE STAFF

North Shore Magnetic Imaging Center is committed to delivering exceptional patient care everyday. All members of the staff are patient oriented and try to make the MRI experience a very positive one for the patient and any family members.

RADIOLOGISTS

The physicians who interpret the MRI examination are affiliated with the radiology groups of the Centers member hospitals, Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester; Beverly Hospital in Beverly; North Shore Medical Center in Salem; and Union Hospital in Lynn. The positions of Clinical Director and Medical Director are held by a primary MRI radiologist for a three year period on a rotating basis.

PRIMARY MRI RADIOLOGISTS

Steven M. Defossez, MD, Primary MRI Radiologist, NSMIC
Staff Radiologist, Beverly Hospital, Beverly, MA
Dr. Defossez completed a residency in Radiology as well as a fellowship in Magnetic Resonance Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital. He also completed a surgical internship at Duke University Medical Center. He received his MD from Tufts University Medical School, AOA, and was president of Tufts University Chapter of AOA 1985.

Dr. Defossez is certified by the American Board of Radiology, and holds the American Board of Radiologys Certificate of Added Qualification in Neuroradiology.

Howard W. Lowy, MD, Primary MRI Radiologist, NSMIC
Staff Radiologist, Salem Hospital, Salem, MA
Dr. Lowy completed his radiology residency at Brigham & Womens Hospital. He also completed a Neuroradiology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Lowys internship was at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He received his MD from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine, AOA. Dr. Lowy previously served as Director of MRI at Central Maine Medical Center. Dr. Lowy is certified by the American Board of Radiology and is a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology.

Eva M. Statz, MD, Primary MRI Radiologist, NSMIC
Staff Radiologist, Union Hospital, Lynn, MA
Dr. Statz was the Chief Resident in Radiology and completed a fellowship in MRI at Tufts New England Medical Center. Her internship was competed at Framingham Union Hospital. She received her MD from Boston University School of Medicine, summa cum laude, AOA. Dr. Statz is certified by the American Board of Radiology.

 RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGISTS

The radiologic technologists who perform the MRI scans are licensed in radiology by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and are registered in radiology and magnetic resonance imaging by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology. Each technologist is certified in CPR by the American Red Cross.

 NURSING STAFF

North Shore Magnetic Imaging Center has a full time nursing staff that monitors pediatric, hospital and acutely ill patients. Nurses at the Center also manage and ensure patient and employee safety, quality assurance, and employee health.

SUPPORT STAFF

The secretarial, transcription and billing staff are very committed to making the entire MRI experience a favorable one.  From the initial phone call to schedule an MRI to being greeted warmly upon entering the MRI center, each member of the support staff tries to make the patient feel relaxed and comfortable at North Shore Magnetic Imaging Center.
